Experiencing Severe Dental Pain or Trauma?
Dental emergencies cannot wait. An oral infection, fractured tooth, or knocked-out tooth requires swift clinical attention to save the tooth and eliminate pain. We reserve dedicated emergency slots 7 days a week.
What to Do Right Now Before You Arrive
Time-Sensitive: Under 60 Minutes
Hold the tooth only by the crown (never touch the root). Gently rinse with water without scrubbing. Place it in a container of cold milk or saliva and come immediately to our clinic.
Acute Pulpitis / Infection
Rinse gently with warm salt water. Floss gently to dislodge trapped debris. Never place aspirin directly on the gums as it causes chemical burns. Call us immediately for same-day pain relief.
Protecting Pulp & Enamel
Save any broken tooth fragments. Apply a cold compress to your cheek to reduce swelling. We use composite bonding or emergency crowns to seal the exposed nerve and restore the smile.
Urgent Infection Risk
A swollen jaw or pimple-like bump on the gum indicates an active bacterial infection. Left untreated, it can spread rapidly. Immediate drainage and antibiotic triage are required.
Direct Insurance Assignment for Emergencies
We know dental emergencies are stressful and unexpected. My Smile Family Dental offers direct billing to all major Alberta insurance providers (Alberta Blue Cross, Sun Life, Great-West Life, CDCP). You only pay your standard deductible or copayment at the time of your visit.
